Meet the Team.
Kathy Spahn is a nonprofit professional with extensive experience in global health and nutrition. Until retiring in December 2023, Kathy served as President and CEO of Helen Keller Intl, a $100+ million nonprofit global health organization that delivers the essential building blocks of good health, sound nutrition and clear vision in more than 20 countries. Prior to joining Helen Keller in 2005, Kathy was President and Executive Director of Orbis, an international non-profit dedicated to the prevention and treatment of blindness; and Executive Director of God’s Love We Deliver, dedicated to combating malnutrition among people living with HIV/AIDS in the metropolitan New York area.
Kathy currently serves on the boards of the Access to Nutrition Foundation (based in The Netherlands), Edesia Nutrition and Emma’s Torch; and provides pro bono coaching/mentoring services to early career global health professionals. Previously, she founded and co-chaired the CEO Council for Nutrition, a membership organization for international NGOs committed to improving nutrition in the developing world; and served on BIFAD, the Board for International Food and Agricultural Development, the only presidentially appointed advisory board to the former USAID. She has also served on the board of InterAction (an alliance of international NGOs); and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Andrew Kamara is the Vice President of Global Operations at Edesia. In this role, he leads the organization’s manufacturing and operational efforts, overseeing production, quality, logistics, warehousing, and supply chain management at Edesia’s Rhode Island facility. He also plays a key role in driving global expansion initiatives related to Last Mile delivery and impact.
Since joining Edesia in 2009, Andrew has held a variety of roles across the organization, contributing to its growth and operational excellence.
Before Edesia, Andrew spent two years at Coca-Cola Enterprises as a mid-level Distribution Resource, managing delivery, storage, and distribution operations for a broad portfolio of bottled beverages. He also worked for six years at United Natural Foods, serving as both a Quality Assurance Specialist and a Supervisor in grocery and repackaging operations.
Andrew holds a degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Connecticut and an Advanced Diploma in Electronics from NIIT in Accra, Ghana.
